Park Bo Young and Kim Sung Cheol in Discussions for a New K-Drama

Park Bo Young and Kim Sung Cheol are reportedly set to star as the leads in the upcoming thriller romance K-drama Goldland. According to media reports on February 26, Kim Sung Cheol has been cast as Park Bo Young’s leading man, raising anticipation for their on-screen chemistry in this exciting new drama.
In response to the reports, Kim Sung Cheol’s agency, Story J Company, shared, “Kim Sung Cheol has received an offer for ‘Goldland’ and is currently reviewing it.” If confirmed, the drama will mark his next major project alongside Park Bo Young, raising anticipation for their potential on-screen chemistry.
Goldland is set in South Korea’s first domestic casino, built as a last hope to revive a declining mining town after the coal industry collapsed. The drama will explore the complex lives of people drawn to the casino—some seeking fortune, others desperate for survival. As the stakes rise, Goldland will weave a gripping tale of ambition, betrayal, and high-risk gambles in a place where luck can change everything.
The drama will be helmed by director Kim Sung Hoon, known for hit films like Confidential Assignment and Rampant, as well as the drama Chief Detective 1958. The script will be written by Hwang Jo Yoon, the talented writer behind Masquerade, Memoir of a Murderer, and Rampant, promising a compelling and suspenseful storyline.
Park Bo Young is in discussions to take on the role of Kim Hee Joo, a woman whose life has been plagued by so much misfortune that she’s known as cursed. Hoping to break free from her troubled past, she begins working at Goldland, where she unexpectedly falls for a man she meets there. However, their romance soon turns perilous when they find themselves entangled in a mysterious attempted murder case tied to a hidden stash of untraceable gold bars.
If confirmed, Park Bo Young’s role in Goldland promises an intense mix of suspense, romance, and mystery as Hee Joo navigates love, danger, and secrets within the high-stakes world of the casino. Fans are eager to see how she will bring depth to this complex character.
If Kim Sung Cheol confirms his role in Goldland, it will mark his first time leading a K-drama. The actor is also set to appear in a supporting role in Netflix’s upcoming series Boyfriend on Demand, starring alongside Kim Ji Soo and Seo In Guk. Beyond dramas, he is expanding his filmography with two upcoming movies, Project Y and The Old Woman with the Knife.
Last year, Kim Sung Cheol took on the lead role in Hellbound Season 2 and made his Disney+ debut with No Way Out: The Roulette, further solidifying his presence in the industry.
According to industry sources, Goldland is set to premiere on a streaming platform, though specific details about its release date and platform have yet to be confirmed.
