Choi Hyun-wook to Star in New K-Drama The Boy in the Last Row

Choi Hyun-wook, a rising star in the industry, has confirmed The Boy in the Last Row as his next project. The drama, based on a play, will showcase his acting depth in a compelling new role.
According to MyDaily’s exclusive report, Choi Hyun-wook has confirmed his role in the upcoming series. A source from the industry stated, “Among many candidates, Choi Hyun-wook was ultimately selected as the lead. While he has faced some controversies recently, his stable acting skills, which suit the character perfectly, secured his casting.”
Based on a play of the same name, The Boy in the Last Row follows Moon-oh, a literature professor who becomes captivated by the writings of his student, Lee Kang, who always sits in the last row of the lecture hall. As he immerses himself in Lee Kang’s work, Moon-oh is forced to confront his long-buried desires and aspirations, leading him into unexpected conflicts.
The drama will be directed by Kim Kyu-tae (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Our Blues) and written by Jang Myung-woo (My Mother, the Mermaid). Kakao Entertainment and GTist will co-produce the series, with filming set to begin this year.
Choi Hyun-wook will play Lee Kang, a brilliant yet enigmatic literature student. Veteran actor Choi Min-sik will take on the role of Professor Moon-oh, heightening anticipation for their on-screen dynamic.
Choi Hyun-wook is currently starring in the romantic comedy K-drama My Dearest Nemesis, alongside Mun Ka-young, Im Se-mi, Kwak Si-yang, Ban Hyo-jung, and Kim Young-ah. The series follows a mix of romance and rivalry, adding to Choi’s growing filmography.

Since debuting in 2019, Choi Hyun-wook has gained recognition through Taxi Driver, Racket Boys, Twenty-Five Twenty-One, Weak Hero Class 1, and D.P. 2. He is currently starring in The Fiery Priest 2, playing a chaebol with a secret otaku side.
